Hokema Kalimbas - the sound of your hands.
Kalimbas are instruments with sound tongues, which originate in the South of Africa and can be found there in innumerable forms and designs.
Warm, soft and softly relaxing, their sounds are just as harmonious as they are in the interplay with other instruments. With the handy Kalimbas everyone can play immediately because the tuned scales create particularly beautiful melodies that simply enchant.
The Kalimbas (B5, B7, B9, B11, Twin Kalimba) are made of solid American cherry, carefully handcrafted in Germany by HOKEMA. The surfaces are treated with vegetable oils and waxes and polished. The sound tongues are precisely tuned.
The sound of all Kalimbas can be amplified by placing or gluing them on a suitable surface, such as a table top or drum.
The Sansulas are made of a beech frame. The soundblock with the sound tongues is built into different drumheads for the different models. By opening and closing the bottom of the frame while playing, an impressive "wah-wah effect" can be achieved.
